What is hamburger pie made of?

A typical, no fuss hamburger pie is made of ground beef, cheese, peppers, onions, eggs and spices; with a basic pastry crust to give that ‘pie’ presentation. You can always change out what ingredients you use, but if you are going for traditional, this is it.

Do meat pies need blind baking?

No matter the style of crust you choose, whether it is store bought or homemade, you will need to blind bake it first. This ensures the crust will not get soggy once you fill it with the meat mixture. Blind baking simply means to partial bake the crust before assembling, it will fully bake once in the oven, after it is filled.

If you choose to make this dinner using our coconut oil pie crust you will not need to blind bake it first. We love this crust for so many reasons, and this is one of them. It saves a step and really makes it a simple, fuss-free crust. We promise it will bake light and flaky, no sogginess to worry about.

Hamburger meat recipes are very popular at my house; inexpensive, easy and tasty. The perfect family meal.

Hamburger pie does freeze well, making it a fantastic freezer meal that you can share with others, or set aside for your own future use. If you are making this for a freezer meal, you want to prepare it in a foil oven dish that can be covered and placed in a freezer.

Be sure to mark it with the date so that you know when it needs to be eaten by. If stored in an airtight freezer safe container, hamburger pie can be frozen for up to 6 months.

How do you reheat a hamburger pie?

If you have any leftovers it is very easy to reheat and enjoy them the following day. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Cover your dish with foil and place in the oven until warmed through. If you made this dish ahead and are reheating a full pie, you will want to bake it for 30-40 minutes to ensure everything is cooked through.
