Waffled Torta Ham Sandwich

Filling and delicious! Waffled Torta Ham Sandwich is full of flavorful, good ingredients. Perfect for a hungry family week end lunch!

Some of my dearest memories from my teenage years are of hanging out at my very best friend, Roseann’s, house. Her large, noisy, boisterous family had a fun loving, welcoming atmosphere that drew me like a magnet. Lots of kids ran through the house, and the food. The kitchen was always busy feeding a crowd. I loved my home away from home, and second family.

Roseann’s dad was a fisherman. His fishing crew often lounged in front of their TV set shouting at Football game plays during football season while they downed beer and consumed great big sandwiches and heaping plates of home fries. The yummy food smells and delicious family noises invited me in every time I walked through the door.

What a hit this delicious waffled Torta Ham sandwich would have been on gameday! This waffle sandwich makes an easy, filling lunch or quick dinner too. Full of gooey cheese, ham and veggies!

Toasted cheese sandwiches are awesome of course. But hard to make with loads of goodies since you have to flip them over. Eventually the kitchen tool industry got the word. Sandwich presses, George foreman grills and panini makers  started filling up kitchen cupboards.

Waffled Torta Ham Sandwich

I finally bought a waffle maker after my ancient one died and we wanted waffles! It makes incredible Savory waffles and gravy and Crispy light waffles. Now I’m giving it double duty as a sandwich press!

My waffle iron doesn’t have an unhinging jaw…So the sandwiches are not as perfectly level as an even sandwich press would make them.

Waffled Torta Ham Sandwich

Torta rolls are big, soft puffy rolls. The sandwich experience is so incredibly different when you waffle them. As a cold sandwich they are good. But that big roll makes it hard to eat the sandwich with all those goodies.

Waffling those big rolls compresses them in a delightful way. Loads of textures, flavors heat and crunch all pressed together. This sandwich holds together splendidly while you eat it!

Waffled Torta Ham Sandwich:

There is something about crunchy, toasted sandwiches. Smoking hot off the grill, loaded full of tasty ingredients. Ham is especially good with a flavorful Pepper Jack cheese, Pepperoncini peppers, and dijon mustard and garden fresh kale!

The one ingredient that really sets these off is my homemade ‘Sun dried Tomatoes‘. I strongly recommend sun dried tomatoes. They add just the right amount of pizzaz. Try my easy to make, Homemade Healthy Mayo Recipe instead of the ranch dressing if you want to lower your salt intake and eat flavorful heart healthy fat.

I have made Waffled Torta Ham Sandwich several times now. Each time the sandwich is so filling and satisfying, nothing else is needed. For quite a while!

I have a space issue, too, and haven't been able to decide between a waffle iron or panini press so, as a result, I have neither! But I've been dreaming of panini's lately. This sandwich sounds so incredible. You really got me with the peperoncini...one of my all time favorites. Thanks for linking up with us at #SaucySaturdays!

What an amazing idea. I just got a waffle iron over the holidays. I wonder if this would work with gluten free breads.
