Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

In a mixing bowl combine 1/2 Cup (1 stick) softened butter 1 Cup granulated sugar 1 egg warmed to room temp 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 tsp peppermint extract Mix until creamed and smooth

In a separate bowl mix together 1 Cups all purpose flour 1/4 tsp baking soda 1/4 tsp salt Slowly pour the dry ingredients into the wet. Mixing slowly while alternately adding 2 Tbs Milk

Once everything is combined, stir in 1/8 Cup crushed peppermint candy canes At this point you may divide the batter and add any food colorings if you desire We recommend gel food dyes

Form the cookie dough into 1" balls, roll each ball in granulated sugar, and arrange on a lined baking sheet  Bake at 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes or until very lightly golden brown Remover from oven and allow the cookies to cool for 2-3 minutes

Once the cookies have cooled slightly, gently press a Hershey's Kiss Candy into each cookie Enjoy these fun, festive Candy Cane Cookies!
