Dehydrating marshmallows can be done in a variety of ways
We will share an overview of each method for you to choose which one you prefer
Dehydrated marshmallows create a wonderful treat
We use an air fryer to dehydrate mini marshmallows
The process can be done in an oven, dehydrator, or even air drying as well
Begin by preheating your air fryer to 135 degrees F
Using (1) 10oz bag of mini marshmallows, arrange them in a single layer on your air fryer rack(s)
Bake in the air fryer for 3 hours (for mini marshmallows) until the marshmallows are partially dry
Increase temperature to 175 and dry another 2 or 3 hours or until the marshmallows are dried
They are done when you can cut them with a knife and they are crisp all the way through but not too hard to eat
Store in air tight container
Marshmallows properly dried and stored last up to 12 months at room temperature
The oven method
Preheat the oven to the lowest setting (around 200-250°F) and place the marshmallows on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
Bake for 2-3 hours, or until the marshmallows are dried to the desired level of dehydration
A food dehydrator can be used to dry marshmallows more quickly, typically in 4-6 hours
Simply place the marshmallows on the dehydrator trays and set the temperature to around 150-160°F
To air dry marshmallows, place them on a sheet of wax paper or a silicone mat and let them sit in a dry, cool place for several hours or overnight
This method is best for achieving a slightly chewy texture
