To start, heat a pan with avocado oil and add 1 1/4 white onion diced fine In a small bowl of water soak 1 1/2 Cups crumbled stale French bread

In a large bowl mix together 2 pounds ground beef 4 eggs The cooked onion 1 tsp. Maggi sauce Soaked bread crumbs 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. black pepper 2 tsp. nutmeg

Set a pot of water boiling Shape the meat into 3x2 inch sausage shaped rolls You should have 18-20 meat rolls

Set a large cabbage into the boiling water As the leaves soften use tongs to pull them off individually You will need roughly 20 large leaves, so you may need to boil two cabbages Set the leaves aside to roll

Set a meat roll in the center of the leaf  Fold the cabbage leaf up from the bottom to cover the meat roll Bring each side of the leaf up and over the meat Roll the cabbage roll up to the top of the cabbage leaf Repeat for all leaves

Using kitchen twine, secure each roll for browning Set your frying pan on medium heat Add 2 TBS of  your favorite high heat safe oil Brown the cabbage rolls on all sides for best flavor Add 4 Cups beef broth and 4 Cups water and allow the rolls to simmer for 40 minutes

Remove the cabbage rolls and set aside Leave the broth to make the gravy

To make the gravy mix together 1/4 Cup Brown Gravy Mix 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. pepper 1 tsp. paprika Tablespoon Cornstarch 1 1/2 Tablespoon dijon mustard Add water to make a thick paste, then mix with the beef from from the cabbage rolls

Once the gravy has boiled for a few minutes, and is the thickness that you desire you are ready to enjoy these German Cabbage Rolls
