Use your favorite sourdough or artisan round bread loaf
Preheat your oven to 375°F.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
Slice the loaf into 1-inch thick slices
Now, cut it the other way to form a criss cross pattern leaving the bottom crust intact
This will allow for the loaf to be stuffed with the fillings
In a small bowl, mix together
4 Tbsp melted unsalted butter
4 cloves of garlic, minced
2 Tbsp dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
Brush over the cut loaf
Stuff between the bread wedges with
2 cups of cubed, sliced or shredded mozzarella cheese
Chopped peppers
Bacon or ham
Use whatever fillings your desire
Place the bread slices on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown
