Our Coconut Oil Crust
2 1/2 Cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 Cup coconut oil
4 to 6 Tablespoons water
This will make enough for (1) double crust 9 inch pie
Double the recipe for larger pies or deep dish pies
Once your bottom crust in fitted into your pie pan add the prepared apple filling
Arrange 4 teaspoons butter cut into slices over the filling
Place the top crust and flute the edges
You can also do crust cutouts if preferred
Using a sharp knife make several thin slits in the top crust
This allows air to escape during the baking process
Finish with an egg wash and sprinkle the top crust with sanding sugar
Bake at 425 degrees F for 10 minutes
Lower oven temperature to 350 degrees F and bake another 25 to 30 minutes, or until juice is bubbling through the slits and the top crust is nicely browned
These are two different ways we have finished this pie
