The process of juicing is simple.
Not difficult but it takes some time to chop and clean all that produce as well as clean up the juicer after. Be sure to clean your equipment and produce really well. You don’t want to invite nasty bacteria into your juice. It could ruin your whole day! Use fresh, well-ripened, produce for the maximum nutritional benefits. I believe it’s well worth it to grow your own organic produce to get it fresh out of your own garden and make juice immediately and then drink it right away before oxidation occurs in the juice and nutrients start to lose value! Basically green juice is made of dark, organic, leafy, freshest, organic greens
Green Juices are made from fresh leafy greens like those listed here:
Mix them with other excellent vegetables such as:
squashes (I love Butternut and Delicata and several others)
broccoli (leaf and stalk as well as top)
cabbage( any variety)
These herb roots are an excellent addition for health:
and wheatgrass is amazingly healthful!
Adding lemon and or lime is great for blending these diverse flavors and giving a healthful kick
Finally put in some fruit!
Apples, pears or oranges, pineapple is delicious to help balance to stronger flavors of the greens! Just don’t overdo the high sugar fruits. Juice can be high on the glycemic index if you overuse the fruit.
And now you can juice it! Just choose any greens you like, chop them up and put them through your juicer according to it’s directions.
NOTE: bananas and other really soft pulpy fruits like cantaloupe do not go through MY juicer well at all so I recommend them only for smoothies (another excellent way to eat your greens if you don’t have a juicer but do have a blender)
BUT: If you’re new to green juicing you may need some introductory recipes to help you transition to this more general ingredient list. So here are a few of the books and websites I went to for help when I was getting started. With experience you can throw the recipes out and go your own way as I have.
We started our greenhouse with juicing in mind. the best quality nutrition comes from homegrown organic produce that you pluck from the garden bed and juice or eat immediately after that. We hope to begin winter next year in the greenhouse so we can, hopefully, achieve a higher nutrient level in our juice in winter! Juicing HAS improved our health. We both have noticed improved energy and our skin is better. Even our age spots have faded (but not disappeared completely). My husband also noticed his joint pain decreased as well.
The benefits are probably as individual as each person’s individual need for the various vitamins and minerals and trace elements that they are missing from their diet.
Juicing, I believe, fills in those nutritional deficits to a large degree and also super charges us in other areas. Can you overdo Juicing? I believe it is possible to overdo, and do stupidly, just about anything. So yes, please go to the trouble to put fresh, organic juiced produce into your diet for the long haul; in a well researched way!
Use organic produce for juicing.

Keep in mind that my husband and I are already healthy. We have no diseases we are trying to cure. Our health issues are fairly small for our age. Others with serious diseases have done wonders for themselves. I do not try to second guess what others need to do for their health. I do believe, as my momma taught me as a child, moderation is the key.
Juicing is wonderful for you in moderation. A pint or so a day of various produce is what we’ve done with only noticeable benefits and no downsides.
I can’t speak to juice fasting or other diets composed only of juice. I’ve never tried them and I do believe they can harm if not done correctly or wisely. But we LOVE to green juice and I encourage you to keep learning more about it and give it a try!
TO YOUR HEALTH!
