Whipped Boursin Phyllo Cups with Hot Honey is about to become your favorite 15 minute appetizer recipe. This easy party appetizer gives you the elegant and fancy vibe on a party tray without hardly any work. You fill the crispy golden phyllo shells with a creamy whipped Boursin filling that is amazingly simple and only two ingredients. Add a drizzle of sweet heat from hot honey, and a sprinkle of crushed pistachios, or fresh thyme, for texture and pizzazz.
The result is a beautiful bite-sized holiday appetizer that feels gourmet but takes almost no effort. These little cups are perfect for parties, holidays, girls’ nights, and any event where you want something impressive that won’t keep you in the kitchen.

The reason this recipe works so well and so quickly is Mini phyllo shells are sold fully baked and ready to use. Just crisp them with a quick 3–4 minutes in the oven and they are ready to fill. The filling is a quick to make combination of Boursin cheese—either Garlic & Fine Herbs or Shallot & Chive—and whipped cream cheese. You can whip up the filling while the shells are baking. Then fill the shells, garnish and serve. Very simple.
When mixed, the texture becomes creamy but also bumpy smooth with flavor bits from the Boursin, and spreadable. The Boursin adds that signature savory herbal flavor while the cream cheese softens and lightens it, making it perfect for piping into delicate phyllo shells. Don’t want to pipe it? Fill the shells with a spoon. They will still look cute.
The hot honey drizzle transforms these from “great” to “unforgettable.” Hot honey adds warmth, subtle spice, and just enough sweetness to create a flavor contrast that enhances the richness of the cheese and highlights the crispness of the phyllo. If you like extra heat you can add more; if you prefer mild sweetness, stick to a light drizzle.

Chopped Pistachios add texture and color, giving each cup a beautiful festive finish. These Hot honey phyllo cups are a wonderful pairing of the creamy flavorful cheese filling and sweet honey with those crispy cups. So good!

Whipped Boursin Phyllo Cups Make Ahead Tips:
Whipped Boursin Phyllo Cups are another great make-ahead phyllo appetizer. We also use phyllo cups in our Cranberry Raspberry Brie Bites and our spicy Chorizo Spinach Phyllo Cups. Phyllo cups are a life saver. You can’t beat em for time saving appetizers. They work well for make-ahead entertaining and add their own crispy texture to whatever filling you put in them. Find them in your local grocers freezer section.
The filling can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator separately from the cups. Just scoop the filling into an air tight container to keep it fresh. About two hours before your event, allow the filling to warm, then assemble the freshly baked cups, drizzle with honey, garnish and serve.
You want to keep the phyllo cups in the freezer until you are ready to bake them and fill. This keeps them crispy. Just a quick 3 minutes in the oven, fill, garnish and set your tray on the serving table. Easy peasy. Once filled they can sit in the fridge for several hours ahead of serving on the big day.

Because these phyllo cups are bite-sized and easy to pick up off a tray, they’re ideal for large gatherings where people are mingling, grazing, and visiting. They look stunning arranged on a wood board, tiered serving tray, or white platter. And no extra serving dishes to wash up.

- Feel free to substitute the nuts: toasted almonds, pecans, or walnuts work for the Pistachios. OR…if you don’t want nuts use a tiny sprig of fresh thyme to add a bit of color and a touch of herbal brightness.
- Swap flavors of Boursin to match your menu: Black Truffle for a luxurious holiday appetizer, Cracked Pepper for a savory twist, or Caramelized Onion for a rich, autumn-inspired bite. I used the shallot and chive flavor and it was great!
- Customize the toppings. A sprinkle of pomegranate arils works beautifully for Christmas. For spring, try lemon zest and microgreens. For game day, add a tiny jalapeño slice for extra heat.
- Get Daring with the Hot Honey too. There are so many flavors of hot honey to choose from at the local grocer. I used a Pineapple Habanero hot honey this time. It added a that touch of fruity sweet to complement the cheese filling and brought the spice too. Nice combo!
All together, the presentation looks catered—yet the entire platter takes less than 15 minutes to prepare. When you need No-fuss entertaining ideas, here you go.
