Raising children is a lot of work and worry. Then they grow up!

And get married! And grow our family with more wonderful people to love. Without nearly as much work or worry! Then they Have Grandkids! Which is the most totally amazing thing ever!! How blessed we are by our children 🙂

My oldest Son, Bill, is finally ready to settle down and get married! He put a ring on it! She said yes! This next year a new family is created for us to support with love and enthusiasm. And then there will be more grandkids 🙂

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY HEATHER!

We met the nicest couple through Heather: Her parents!  When we were introduced; Heather’s mom had tubes of her DIY Natural Shimmering Lip-gloss in her purse. She generously offered me a tube. I loved it as soon as I felt it on my lips!

We fell to talking. She offered to do a demonstration for me; and you! Then she mentioned she had a few more recipes up her sleeve. Like her Homemade Healing ointment and this Healing Hand Scrub. Bonnie invited me down for an afternoon and we had such a great time together making these skin care recipes.

About Sugar Scrub ingredients:

Sugar Scrubs are beneficial as exfoliants. This is the one time you can say sugar is actually good for you. Sugar abrades your old dead skin cells off when it is mixed with oil. This is highly beneficial for the skin if you use a good oil for the skin. Sugar scrubs leave the skin stimulated and gives it a coat of healthy moisturizer. Your dermal layer circulatory system will be improved and so will the glow on your skin!

Sugar grains do not dissolve in the scrub. I thought they would! We have had sugar scrubs sit on the counter several months and the sugar is still plenty abrasive!

When therapeutic essential oils are added for scent, an extra element of healthy goes into your scrub. Essential oils have unique healthful properties that are released into your nose and skin. I can attests to this. I love how just smelling this scrub makes me feel good.

The foundation oil in your scrub binds the essential oils so your skin can absorb them.   Choose a good quality organic binding oil; like coconut oil, olive oil or almond oil. You want an organic oil that benefits and pleasantly moisturizes your skin.

I particularly enjoy coconut oil in my skin care products. It’ softens the skin and soaks in with no residue. Just a clean moisturizing experience! (It’s also my favorite makeup remover. So many uses for this amazing oil!) Create a pleasing healthful sugar scrub that exfoliates, moisturizes and heals!

Healing Hand Scrub

Healing Hand Scrub with Lemon and Eucalyptus

Bonnie used essential oils and vitamin E oil. Therapeutic grade Lemon Grass oil and Eucalyptus oil offer excellent health properties in this scrub. I’ve linked articles about both of these oils (they include recipes to make your own oil!) in the walk through recipe. These are really a nice addition to this scrub.

Healing Hand Scrub

Healing Hand Scrub is perfect for heavy-duty scrubbing and healing rough skin.

Bonnie put together a scrub that has healing properties. She used a scent combination appealing to either gender.

Healing Hand Scrub can be used all over the body. Try rubbing it on your heels and knees to remove embedded dirt or soften calluses. Your hands, feet, and knees will love the massage! Use this scrub as a whole body scrub for an invigorating, refreshing experience! Bonnie particularly recommends applying healing hand scrub to the cuticles to keep them soft and healthy.

I have used this scrub on my face and it’s wonderfully stimulating.

A jar of Healing Hand Scrub sits next to our sink. Dave often needs to scrub deeply embedded dirt from his hands. This scrub does the trick and helps his hands heal. Dave hands are constantly in water, garden soil, paint and drywall mud, even car grease. This scrub removes all that and his hands feel moisturized and nourished afterwards. I love it too. My skin feels moisturized and smells marvelous after a good scrub with this recipe. Try this!

This is a perfect sugar scrub for men. Bonnie made it with Lemon and Eucalyptus. Her hubby enjoys that scent in his healing Hand Scrub, so we thought Dave might too!  YEP! He does 🙂 So do I!

I spent a glorious afternoon with Bonnie documenting her three recipes. She made Natural Shimmering Lip-gloss, Healing Ointment and this Healing Hand Scrub.

Bonnie also made delicious Chocolate chip scones, Orange scones and tea. She served it pretty with her beautiful Delft blue tea-pot and dishes. We had a “Tea Party!” I was spoiled. It was great fun!

A certain future wedding may or may not have been discussed: in general terms 🙂 We had a mission to get those three recipes accomplished, documented and photographed. We met that goal!

One year update: We still love and use this scrub! (And  our son is married to Heather with a grandbaby on the way. Life is good!)

YOU WILL NEED:

  • 1 cup sugar– Bonnie used large-grained organic sugar. Any sugar will work for this recipe. The scrub will be a bit different if your sugar grain size changes. Large grain sugar is most abrasive and really grinds the dirt out of your hands!
  • 1/2 Cup oil- Coconut oil is what Bonnie used. She also recommends almond oil and olive oil. Feel free to adjust the proportion and type of the oil to your personal preference. That is the beauty of homemade! Do what works for you.
  • 2 tsp. vitamin E oil (a preservative with nutritive and healing properties) –buy it here on our Amazon Affiliate Link
  • Bonnie’s Choice of essential oils for Healing Hand Scrub is:
  • 25 drops Lemon grass Essential oil- buy it on Amazon or go to mercola.com to make your own and learn about the properties of lemon grass oil
  • 15 drops Eucalyptus Essential oilBuy it on Amazon or go to mercola.com  to learn how to make your own and learn more about eucalyptus oil properties.
Essential Oils For Healing Hand Scrub

Essential oils Bonnie is using for Healing Hand Scrub. She bought these in a set linked below on Amazon

Any scented essential oils you prefer is fine. Use what best fits your needs; or your giftee!

INSTRUCTIONS:

Mix all ingredients together! Ready for use immediately; or store at room temperature in an airtight container.

This scrub is shelf stable at least a year at 70 degrees. We have had a jar on our counter longer than that and it is still working down to the last bit. The sugar slightly crystallized finally but I added more coconut oil and mixed it up and it’s just fine. The oils are still working too!

Healing Hand Scrub

Healing Hand Scrub is easily made by combining the ingredients together. Now spoon the scrub into your chosen airtight jar. The recipe is done!

DIRECTIONS for use:

Take a small scoop on you hands. Rub it into rough areas and cuticles. Rinse with warm water and dry
