How much Alcohol is in a shot of Rumchata?

Rumchata contains 15% ABV (alcohol by volume). This makes Rumchata a lower alcohol cream liqueur. Most pure alcohols (vodka, rum, tequila etc) come in at 35-50% ABV. Rumchata has the same ABV as a bottle of wine or a lower alcohol liqueur. Rumchata can still get you intoxicated, always drink responsibly and know your limits.

Can you drink Rumchata straight?

Rumchata can be consumed straight (by itself) or over ice. Rumchata is a smooth creamy liqueur that mimics the taste of both Horchata and Rum. This delicious liqueur is a popular option for those who love creamy alcohols. Rumchata is great by itself or as a complimenting liqueur in a mixed drink.

What is a good Cinnamon Whiskey?

For this drink we recommend fireball whiskey. It is a cheaper option that tastes delicious. Perfect for mixing with another sweet cream liqueur. If you don’t have fireball on hand, or you wish to explore other cinnamon whiskey options, here are a few of our top favorites:

  • Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Fire
  • Mr Tom’s Spirits Cinnamon Whiskey
  • Sweet Heat Cinnamon Whiskey
  • Sinfire Cinnamon Whiskey (comparable price point to fireball)
  • Ole Smoky Tennessee Cinnamon American Whiskey
  • Cinerator Whiskey Hot Cinnamon
  • Evan Williams Fire Cinnamon Whiskey
  • Sugar Works Shark Bite Cinnamon Whiskey
  • Still House Red Hot Whiskey
  • Sun Beach Whiskey Bonfire Cinnamon

Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shot

This delicious shot is a beautiful blend of these two drinks.

Shot Glasses:

We used Tall Shot Glasses for this recipe. So there is room for the whipped cream on top. 🙂

Garnishing:

We give you complete instructions for the rimmed glass and topping we chose in the printable recipe card below.

This Fireball drink does benefit from that whipped topping on top to cut the cinnamon fire a bit. In my opinion.

Finishing the Shot:

  • You may choose to leave off the garnishing altogether for a stronger Fireball bite.
  • If you prefer you can also crush up some Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal and rim your glass with that.
  • The cinnamon sugar rim is a really nice touch to this shot. We hope you try it.
