Banana Split Cake Potluck dish:

This no bake dessert recipe features a press in graham cracker crumb crust, cream cheese mixture, pudding, bananas and cool whipped topping all layered and chilled.

Add a drizzle of chocolate syrup, pecans and whipped cream with a cherry on each. Viola! A pretty party dish made simple in a 9 x 13 baking dish.

TIPS:

  • Banana pudding or chocolate flavored pudding can replace the vanilla flavor.
  • You can recreate this dessert as many ways as there are to love banana splits. If you hate pineapple replace it with a fresh strawberry layer or use strawberry jam.
  • Caramel syrup can also be drizzled on top. Either to replace the chocolate or drizzle them both on. These flavors love each other. 🙂
  • If your graham crust is crumbly use a narrow frosting spatula or kitchen knife to spread cream cheese.
  • Keep this dessert chilled until serving.
  • This recipe can be made up to a day ahead before serving (covered) .
  • Just DON’T garnish it till serving to keep it fresh and lovely. Add the spray on whipped cream just before serving or omit it. It will melt into the cake if left out too long.

You can cut the pieces in half to create 24 2 x 3 inch pieces. Or stretch it even more if you cut it into 2 x 2 pieces.

If you choose to make a LOT of servings and hold it on a dessert table for awhile omit the whipped cream and cherry topping.

It will still be a rich flavorful morsel for your guests.

Banana Split Cake Recipe

Banana split cake is a very easy no bake dessert. This cream cheese recipe assembles quickly and taste fantastic. Yummy, simple, comforting and indulgent. Your family will love it!

Ingredients

The crust:

  • 1 1/2 Cups Graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 Cup Granulated sugar-divided
  • 1/3 Cup melted butter

The filling layers:

  • 12 oz. cream cheese-softened
  • 2 Cups milk
  • 2-3 oz. packages vanilla pudding (or banana)
  • 2 Cups thawed cool whip-divided
  • 4 bananas
  • 1-20 oz. can crushed pineapple
  • 1 Cup pecan pieces.
  • 1/4 Cup Hershey chocolate syrup(or as desired)

Garnishes:

  • Spray whipped cream (as desired)
  • 12 maraschino cherries

Instructions

For the Crust:

  1. Crush the graham crackers with a rolling pin in a bag or using your food processor.
  2. In a medium bowl combine the graham cracker crumbs, 1/4 Cup sugar and melted butter. make the Grahman cracker crumb crust-mixing
  3. Stir together with a fork or wooden spoon. Spread firmly and evenly in a 9 x 13 inch pan.pressing in graham cracker crust
  4. Set in fridge until needed.

For the cream cheese layer:

  1. Put the softened cream cheese in a medium sized bowl.
  2. Beat the cream cheese with a hand mixer to break apart the cream cheese blocks. (do not over beat)mixing softened cream cheese
  3. Add 3/4 Cups sugar into cream cheese. Beat until smooth.
  4. Spread the cream cheese layer over the chilled graham cracker crust. Return to fridge.spreading cream cheese layer over chilled graham crust

Pudding Layer:

  1. In a medium bowl combine milk and pudding mix.make the pudding
  2. Whisk together until smooth.
  3. Fold in 1 Cup of the cool whip with a fork or spoon until it is light and fluffy. Set aside.folding in cool whip to pudding

Finish assembly:

  1. Slice the bananas into 1/4 inch rounds. set aside.slicing bananas
  2. Spread the drained pineapple over the chilled CREAM CHEESE layer.banana split cake pineapple layer
  3. Set the banana slices flat down and touching on top of the pineapple layer.
  4. Spread the pudding layer over the banana layer.spreading on pudding over sliced bananas
  5. Smooth the remaining 1 Cup of cool whip over the pudding to form an evenly smooth top.cool whip layer-banana split cake
  6. Sprinkle the pecan pieces evenly over the cool whip layer.
  7. Drizzle the chocolate syrup across the top of the cake. (according to your personal preference)banana split cake-ready to chill
  8. Chill to set the layers or serve immediately with Garnishes

At serving:

  1. Spray the whipped cream into 12 evenly spaced hills on the cake top. Set one cherry into each top. garnishing banana split cake
